The Windham Youth Soccer Association is run by a Board of Directors made up of volunteers in the community. In-house and travel programs run year-round and the Board often meets on a monthly basis to discuss any areas of importance. Some of the areas covered include facilities, scheduling, financial reporting and program improvements. Other Board projects include Spring Clean-Up Day, Equipment Swap Day, and Photo Day.
Officer positions include President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Registrar, Director of Risk Management, and Director of Coaching. Other leadership roles include Travel Director, In-House Director, Sponsorship Coordinator, and Public Information Officer. In addition to these positions, we also have general board member spots available.

Sarah Varney - President
Sarah Varney, a Windham resident and mother of two, has been a member of WYSA since 2015 and member of the WYSA board since 2018. After coaching pre-k and K/1, Sarah began volunteering her time helping administer the in-house program and cheering on her kids from the sidelines while her husband continues to coach at the older levels. Sarah enjoys working with a team of motivated volunteers to support one of the largest recreational soccer programs in the state and seeing the kids and families having fun out on the fields!
Shawn Varney - Vice President / Field Manager
Shawn Varney has been a member of the WYSA Board of Directors since 2018. Shawn began coaching in 2017 when his daughters were in the 2/3 in-house program and continues to coach at the travel level. Shawn is passionate about field management and you will often see him trimming the trees, fixing nets, and making sure the fields are ready for play.
Matt Franzoni - Director of Coaching / Travel Director
Matt Franzoni has been a member of the WYSA Board of Directors since 2019 and is currently serving as the Director of Coaching and the Travel Director. Matt has two children in the WYSA Travel program and he enjoys coaching both of their teams!
Ben Caswell - In-house Director
Ben Caswell joined the WYSA board in 2023 and is the In-House Coordinator. Ben is well versed in many sports as a physical education teacher, but his favorite is hockey, especially the Montreal Canadiens.
Craig Broadbent - Director of Risk Management
Katie Cook - Registrar
Katie has been a member of the WYSA Board of Directors since January 2022. She previously served as Secretary to the Board and has moved into her new role as Registrar in early 2024. Katie’s husband Darren is the head coach of Little Eagles so you will likely see her helping with the administrative side of this program!
Ashley Caswell - Sponsorship Coordinator
Ashley Caswell has been a member of the WYSA Board of Directors since 2022. Ashley serves as the Sponsorship Coordinator and assists her husband Ben with the administration of the In-House program.
Evan Carlson - General Board Member
Evan Carlson joined the WYSA Board of Directors in 2023. Evan has many years of experience coaching his daughter’s and son’s In-house team and is very passionate about Chelsea Football Club. Among his many duties, Evan assists Shawn with field maintenance and directing parents to the correct letter field.
